Pupil Premium

Using our Pupil Premium Funding Effectively

The Pupil Premium is allocated to all schools and is based upon numbers of pupils who are currently known to be eligible for free school meals (FSM), pupils in care who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, pupils who have been in receipt of free school meals within the past six years, or pupils who have parents in the Armed Forces or pupils who were looked after by an English or Welsh local authority immediately before being adopted, or who left local authority care on a special guardianship order or child arrangements order. Pupil Premium funding is also allocated for pupils who have been eligible for free school meals at any point in the last six years.

In 2018/2019, our Pupil Premium allocation was £9,880 and we used it:
To top up funding for Teaching Assistant hours provided to all classes and for intervention groups that run to help support children’s learning.

To fund Free School Milk for all children who are in receipt of Free School Meals.

In 2019/2020, our Pupil Premium allocation is £8920 and we will use it:
To top up funding for Teaching Assistant hours provided to all classes and for intervention groups that run to help support children’s learning.

To fund Free School Milk for all children who are in receipt of Free School Meals.

Irrespective of ability, we recognise the importance of ensuring this funding is specifically used for Pupil Premium eligible children at Newtown Linford Primary School and we continually strive to ensure our Pupil Premium eligible children achieve and progress well.

Our assessment of the quality of this provision is based on continual monitoring by the Headteacher and regular progress meetings with all Teachers and Cover Supervisors/Teaching Assistants.

Due to the small numbers of children who receive this funding within our school, limited detail is provided on this website to ensure individual children can’t be identified.

The Headteacher writes a Pupil Premium Strategy / Self Evaluation each year which is shared with Governors, Staff & BEP. It is evaluated throughout the year and updated. Please find below our Self Evaluation of last years spending.

Is my child eligible for Pupil Premium funding?

‘Funding available through the pupil premium is used to help eligible pupils to take a full part in school life, and benefit, where appropriate, from specific resources such as reading books and additional help from adults. The progress made by these and other pupils is monitored closely at regular meetings between the headteacher and teachers to track all pupils’ progress.’
