Allergen Process
Requests for special diets must be made to Caterlink using their online Food Allergen and Intolerance Form. See their factsheet below for further guidance and a link to the online form.

Children in EYFS (Reception) and KS1 (Year 1 & 2) are entitled to have a hot school meal for free under the Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme.
Children in KS2 (Years 3 – 6) can order a school meal for £3.00 per day which should be paid for on Arbor in advance. From August 2026 the price will increase to £3.20 per meal.
Children are able to bring a packed lunch if they prefer but the standard of our school meals is very good and we are proud of the high uptake.
Please ensure that you keep your child’s Arbor record updated with any dietary requirements or food intolerances. A vegetarian/vegan option will be available each day as standard. However, if your child has a food allergy or intolerance the Allergy And Intolerance Form must be completed and returned to Caterlink, along with a referral letter from a medical professional, so that an appropriate alternative option can be provided. Please make sure that you also keep the school office informed of any allergies or intolerances.
Free School Meals and Pupil Premium
Free school meals are also available to KS2 children in certain circumstances and these arrangements are changing from the start of the 2026/27 academic year. Please see the letter below for further explanation.
Leicestershire County Council’s Free School Meals webpages are being updated with details of eligibility and how to apply.
If your child is in EYFS or KS1 and receives universal infant free school meals but you would also qualify under the Targeted Free School Meals scheme, please do register as you will receive other educational entitlements and the School will receive Pupil Premium funding so we can better support your child.

Why Choose A Caterlink School Meal
Snacks and Packed Lunches
Children may bring a small snack for morning break, for example a piece of fruit or cereal bar. Crisps and sweets/chocolate are not permitted.
Packed lunches should not include fizzy drinks, sweets or chocolate.
Please ensure any snack or packed lunch does not include nuts or nut products.
Children are encouraged to bring a bottle of water (only) for refreshment during the day.
If in doubt, please speak to Office staff.
Birthdays – we know that children like to bring cakes or sweets for their classmates on their birthdays. These should be handed out in the playground at the end of the school day and only with the permission of the recipient’s parent/carer. They may not be distributed in class by the child or a teacher. As with all food in school, please avoid items containing nuts.
School Milk Scheme
Our school provides a milk scheme that is available to all of our pupils and we would like to invite you to register your child. School milk is free for all under-fives and is subsidised for pupils aged five or older.
Each pupil that registers with Cool Milk will receive a carton of semi-skimmed milk every day, and it is delivered fresh and chilled to the classroom. Their school milk will not only provide them with essential nutrients, but as it is rehydrating and energy boosting it also bridges the gap between breakfast and lunch to help children stay focused.
Milk is completely free for all children aged under five and is subsidised for children aged five or older. Simply register at www.coolmilk.com
School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme
We are registered with the School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme. This is a government programme which entitles every child in EYFS and KS1 (Linford and Bradgate classes) to a piece of fruit or vegetable each school day.
The School Fruit & Vegetable Scheme is part of the national 5 A DAY programme. Fruit and vegetables are key to a healthy lifestyle and it is recommended that children eat at least five portions of fruit and vegetables every day. Research has indicated that on average children in England only eat around three portions daily, with many eating fewer.
