Bradgate Class

Bradgate class has all of our Year 2 children and some of our Year 1 pupils. In Bradgate, we recognise the importance of learning through exploration and play, yet also develop children’s independence through more formal sessions too. Key Stage 1 is an important time for children in developing their social skills, which is why we promote kindness and helpfulness at all times. We also want children to give everything a go, it does not matter if you make a mistake!

PE

Our PE days are Mondays and Fridays.

Reading & Phonics

We love reading and sharing stories in Bradgate. Please support your child in reading at least 4 times a week at home. Bring reading books and journals to school every day, as we will also aim to read with your child as much as possible.

For more information and useful videos on phonics for parents, see https://www.littlewandlelettersandsounds.org.uk/resources/for-parents/

Spellings will be sent home once a week and tested in school. Practise these at home and we encourage children to try their best, but please don’t worry about the scores, as these are not aimed to put extra pressure on the children.

See the page tabs to find out more about English, Maths and Phonics in Bradgate Class, as well as Knowledge Organisers for a range of subjects we will cover this year!
